I noticed my last post was in March!! URG...been so busy chasing these children around that I have not kept up with my blog! OK...so update on the children!

Byne: He is in Huntsville! All moved in and really enjoying his new town. He will be playing baseball for University of Alabama Huntsville this Spring. He seems very happy there! I have not been to visit yet :( Lakyn and Dalton have been keeping me super busy here at home! Hope to go visit soon!

Kyle: Still loving Alabama and most excited about Alabama football.

Dalton: Is really enjoying his senior year and is preparing for next year! He has applied to Faulkner State in Bay Minette and is hoping for a tryout for their baseball team! He still loves his job at the YMCA and is looking forward to one day being a teacher! He still wants to be a Kindergarten teacher! That is too funny to me!! I guess teaching runs in our blood!! He gets his Senior pictures made today by our friend Billy! Hope to have those to share soon :)

Lakyn: Loves high school at SEHS! She is cheering and having the time of her life. A little secret...Mom loves it as much as she does :) Check out our slide show!

Mark: Still working as hard as ever...don't think that will ever change!

Me: Loving life and trying to keep up with my family!! I have added some new pictures of mostly Lakyn cheering! That has consumed us lately! School is going great...seems like old hat these days! Everything just runs smoothly and all the teachers are fantastic! Glad to be a part of CES! Baby Emma has arrived and we are having the most fun playing with her...Lakyn adores her!!

We have been very busy so little time for blogging! Dalton and Byne have started baseball season...so we are on the road all the time trying to watch them play ball! The Stars of Elmore County was held on Feb. 21st...I was nominated for Princiapl of the year. That was fun..didn't win, but a very deserving lady won. Mrs. Mary Lucy Crapps is the Principal of Holtville Elementary and has been there for a very long time. She is retiring this year so it was very fitting that she be honored :) I was thrilled that I was nominated by one of my teachers...I will always treasure the sweet letter that she wrote about me! Lakyn is getting ready for tryouts in April and still working on her back hand spring...hope she gets it before tryouts. I will be blogging a limited amount since I am traveling all over Alabama to watch my boys play ball. Hope you are all doing well...I am thinking of you often! Much love :)

We went to the Ball this weekend and had a great time! We look forward to the "Prom" every year and always have a great time with our friends. Then on Sunday Byne had a game in Tuscaloosa. We were able to go see Kyle and watch Byne play ball all at the same time! A great weekend :)

I have not blogged in forever! I have been super busy getting ready for Christmas. I have cleaned every square inch of my house - literally with a toothbrush! lol It is nice to have it so clean - lets just hope it stays that way.

We have so much to be excited about!
1. Emilie is having a baby girl! YEAH :) I love babies and am looking forward to being the best Aunt Susanne that our little Emma Catherine could ever hope for. I have big plans to spoil her rotten!
2. Baseball season will start very soon. Dalton's tryouts are January 10th and Byne's season will probably get started at the beginning of Feb. Both of them should get lots of playing time this year - so you know MOMMA will have to try and make EVERY game :) It is hard with them in two different directions, but we will do the best we can.
3. Lakyn is practicing her gymnastics getting ready for Cheerleading tryouts in March. She needs a back handspring and is already making great progress.
4. We are lookng forward to our annual New Years Eve bash - lots of good friends coming over to ring in the New Year.

Christmas was great this year. Isn't it amazing that we spend a month preparing - buying, wrapping and it is all done in about an hour? We had to have our Christmas on Christmas Eve since Mark is on day shift. He has to be at work on Christmas Day at 5:15 AM :( Everybody was a little dissapointed in changing our "normal" traditions, but it is nice that our children will get to spend Christmas morning with their other parent this year. Dalton and Lakyn haven't been with their Dad on Christmas morning in a very long time. I am hoping this year that will be special for them. So......Mark will be at work, all the children will be with their "other" parent. Guess where Susanne will be......snoozing in my bed. I may get up and put my bathrobe on and watch a movie in my quiet house! Jan is making Christmas lunch for her family - so maybe I will stroll over there in my pajamas and have some lunch.:) Mark will get home from work around 2 and the boys will get home around then, so we will take Byne and Kyle to a movie Christmas afternoon. We always go on Christmas day and take turns picking the movie. Bad news....this year it is Mark's turn. That usually means a war movie! :( All in all it was a special Christmas spending time with family and friends. I hope you all are having a very Merry Christmas!

We had Thanksgiving at Maw Maws house today. Time for the annual family photo for the Christmas card. Good news.....it only took a few minutes. The boys behaved this year and Aunt Kay only had to take two or three and we were done!! They usually act really silly and it takes us forever to get one where we all look normal. We are headed to the beach for my side of the families Thanksgiving on Wednesday! I am looking forward to the trip! Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for :)

I believe everything happens for a reason

Dalton's friend married this weekend. He was the best man and it was a very sweet service. The couple is very young and has a baby on the way. It reminded me so much of how our family started. When I saw that bride round the corner looking so young and full of hope, it reminded me so much of how I probably looked at seventeen getting married. I was so young and so in love....nothing else mattered. When we are young we don't think about anything but the moment. Then as we "grow up" we realize how we change and begin to ask what have I missed. I prayed for her right that minute as I cried my eyes out. I cried because I can so identify with her feelings that day.....a little sad, very happy, very naive, looking forward but not having a clue what is about to hit her. Please pray for her!! Please pray for him!! I truly believe that everything happens for a reason.....God brought us our sweet Dalton. He was truly a gift from God that came very early in my life. I just realize now how fast we had to grow up and that I was growing up with him! I know that God has a plan for this young couple too!

Tennis at the Beach ~ does it get any better?

Our tennis team, Sweet Heat, made it to the State Tournament in Orange Beach. We were all so excited, but I was super nervous! I just started playing tennis about 6 or 7 months ago, and I only play once or twice a week. I wanted to do well at the tournament, but I have never had a lesson and still have so much to learn. I am grateful that I play on a team that is more concerned about having fun than obsessed with winning. My partner, Flavia, is also SUPER patient with me :)! We had the greatest time! All of the teams that we played were really nice, and our group of girls are GREAT! Emilie, Byne, Lakyn, and Cayla came down to support me ~ which was really cool! I learned so much this weekend and had a fantastic time ~ can't wait until the next time we make it to state (there will be a next time)! I just wish I could walk - every bone in my body aches! Halloween 2008

We always have the most fun at Halloween! Lakyn and Byne seem to enjoy it the most and the costume parade at school is so much fun! All of the teachers dress up and some of them are so creative. The purple pod teachers dressed like the administration this year. They each made a mask of our faces. It was so funny! I thought Mrs. Judy was dressed as Obama when I first saw her and then discovered it was Mr. Jackson.

We had a little Halloween gathering last night and the kds had a great time. We were glad to get to see Mrs. Beth and John David. All of the children were here, which doesn't happen that often with two of them away at college. We were glad to see Kyle. It was a great night! We have so much to be thankful for!

We had a weekend of celebrations. Lakyn turned 14 and Byne turned 21! We had a party for Lakyn on Friday night. She had several little girls come to a spend the night party at the lake. We played hide and go seek, decorated our own cakes, limboed, and busted a pinata. They had the greatest time! The decorating of the cakes was a big hit! I was impressed with some of their creativity! Byne's party was scheduled for Saturday night. He had a pinata too - transformers lol! It was a great time with family and friends. My favorite part was when Lakyn had to blow out the candles on all the individual cakes - I took a video. Check it out on our link to the family photos. It is too cute! I am so blessed with these sweet children! God is good! :)

The MJHS Mustangs beat Prattville!!

Our 8th grade team beat Prattville tonight! Lakyn had a great time at the game and was very excited that Camyrn, Michele and Luke came to watch her cheer. Luke did sleep most of the game though! He is so precious! It was a GREAT night and all the kids were thrilled about beating Prattville! There is hope for the future SEHS :) Go Mustangs!

It was a full day of baseball today! Dalton participated in the CACC showcase this morning and Byne had a game today. It was lots of fun watching them play! They both had a great day of baseball. With two of them playing we are super busy, but loving every minute of it. Cayla and I are staying at the lake while we travel back and forth to games. I am having a great time getting to spend time with her.

Mark and I went to San Destin for a conference with my work this week. We had a fabulous time. It was my first time visiting Baytown Wharf and I was very impressed! We went on a Dinner Cruise on Thursday evening and had a great time with Andre', Monica, Steve, and Lori. We also went to watch an old friend of mine play the guitar at the Funky Blues Shack in Baytown Wharf. It was a great trip. We found the Fountain of Youth at Baytown Wharf - we thought that was funny!

I had to add the picture of Byne and Lakyn in this blog. Byne came to watch Lakyn cheer last week and she was so excited. She loves that Byne. I thought this was the sweetest picture!:) We went to watch Byne play at CACC today. It was the first home game for the Fall season. He played in the outfield and pitched. It was such a welcomed change to actually see him playing! He did GREAT! We are proud of him and proud for him. He seems to be loving CACC! It does my heart good to see him happy!

Six things about me that you may or may not know ~

1. I am super messy! My car is messy, and my house is messy and it really does not bother me all that much. Luckily, I married someone who it also does not bother. I do have my moments where I insist on scrubbing every square inch of the house, but I live the majority of my life with clothes hanging off the chairs in my bedroom and all in the floor!

2. I just got bumped up in the rankings on my tennis team. I am now ranked a 3.0 ~ and my tennis team is headed to state in Orange Beach Nov. 6-9! I have always loved to watch sports, but have never really liked to play! This love of tennis is new and I am enjoying every minute of it!

3. I HATE public speaking. I shake and break out in hives before I have to speak at PTO or any other school event. Mr. Jackson tells me that you can not tell, that I look cool as a cucumber ~ but I am actually dieing inside when I have to speak.

4. I have a severe addiction to Diet Coke. My family expresses concern about how many I drink a day. I am embarrassed to admit, but I have one in my hand from sunup to sundown. Although I love diet coke, I do not believe in dieting. I eat what I want when I want. I have NEVER been on a diet ~ when I want to lose weight I just eat less and exercise more.

5. I would rather have a few close friends than to have a whole bunch of friends.

6. My back porch is my most favorite place in the world! My dream is to one day have a porch on the beach :)!

I love football season!

I have never been a huge football fan, always a baseball kinda girl....but I do love football season. Lakyn has so much fun cheering for her school, that her enthusiasm is contagious! There is something about the air (less humidity- maybe?) during the Fall that makes it more enjoyable to be outside watching a game. Lakyn's first game was last week- they went into 6 overtimes. It was a really exciting game. She has another this Tuesday in Alex City, so her big brother Byne will get to come watch her. She is pumped about that :) Alabama football proved to be pretty exciting this weekend too. We watched the game at Jan's and had a great time. Byne and Kyle were home from college and were able to watch the game with us. It was a great Labor Day weekend with the family!

My friend, Michele, had her baby this week. Luke weighed nine pounds and 7 ounces and was born two weeks early. It is a good thing that he decided to enter this world a little early, for Michele's sake. He is the cutest baby and so sweet! I am so proud for Michele and Les! :)

Byne's New House

I had the most fun at Byne's house this weekend. It is really cool! He seemed so excited about this school year and that really puts my mind at ease. We tore down the girly wall paper and put up a Spiderman wallpaper border! Yes, he is twenty - going to be 21 in Oct. and still loves Spiderman. That is what makes him so GREAT! :) He still has roses painted around the windows, but we will fix that next visit! He seems settled and happy - what more can a parent ask for!

YMCA Staff Party

Dalton worked at the YMCA this summer as a Camp Counselor and he loves his job. When they began to discuss where to have the end of the year party for the counselors, he volunteered to have it at our lake cabin. I really enjoyed getting to know all of the coworkers he has talked about all summer! They had a little awards ceremony and passed out personalized certificates to acknowledge the counselors hard work. Dalton was given the "Most ready to issue a beat down award". I am hoping that it means he has good discipline and NOT that he actually beat down the children! LOL These counselors played hard all day at the lake - I was worn out after just watching them. I am very proud of my Dalton for taking the initiative to get a job this summer and working so hard to make camp fun for his campers! Today was a GREAT day playing with a GREAT group of people!

My family is very small. My Dad only has one sibling, a brother and he only had one son, John. Therefore, on my Dad's side John is my one and only cousin. John has two beautiful girls, Amy and Lisa. Amy married on Saturday, August 2nd! We are all so excited for her. She was a beautiful bride!

We love summerfest! It is so much fun and it is great to see all the people that we don't usually get to see throughout the year. Summerfest usually marks the end of summer for me! We are working hard to get ready for the students to come back! We do have a Back to School party planned for the lake the weekend before school starts, but that is probably the only fun I will have time for. There is so much to do! We are recarpeting the office this week, so everything from the office is in hallway! Busy, Busy, Busy! I will post pictures after our lake party!

Two Great Books

OK - I must share! I just got through reading "The Five People you Meet in Heaven" by Mitch Albom. It is a great book!! It reminds us that although at times we feel insignificant, we AREN'T. We are important in the lives of others and everything happens for a reason. It was a really easy read, I read it in two days. You will love it!

The other book I am reading is "Breaking Free" by Beth Moore. I have always been so inspired by her. If you have never been a part of one of her Bible studies, you should. She is such an awesome teacher. I participated in several of her studies when I was married to John. His Mom held several at her work. It has been several years since I have read anything by her. About a month ago Mark and I were at Books A Million and I saw this book. I picked it up and I am so glad that I did. "Breaking Free" is a book that is also a Bible study. It does take a little longer to read, but is worth your time.

"Religion" is interesting to me and at the same time very confusing. I think when you go to college it causes you to question everything you have been taught. You become more analytical and begin to ask more questions. I have always been on a search for the truth. I have spent countless hours in discussions with Mark, Kay, my Dad, Mom, Aunt Cathy, John's parents, my friends. I love all of these people, which leads to more confusion - Who do you believe? All of these discussions led me to their point of view on the truth. Their ideas conflict some, and that is where the confusion lies. All people have points of view (opinions) on what is right and wrong according to the Bible. My visits to church have not led me to any peace, although I truly enjoy the preacher. I have found many of the people in the church are hypocritical and "pretend" to be the perfect Christian while all the while judging the actions of others. This just leads to more confusion. The beauty of Beth Moore is that she leads you to find your own truth in God's word. People are sinners and cannot lead me to the truth. In whatever way they were brought up, that is the truth they have found. I must find my own truth!

Sorry I have not blogged in a while, just been busy! We are excited that Byne will be coming home on August 4th!! He has to register for classes at his new school on the 5th. He will have to move into his house that he will be renting with two other boys. He seems really excited about his roommates! The other children are enjoying their summer - Kyle is at the beach, and Lakyn is headed to the beach with a friend next weekend. Dalton is still working hard at the Y and loving every minute of it. Mark and I are looking forward to Summerfest. It is a celebration of summer that Millbrook puts on every year. They have great live music and a fantastic fireworks show. You all should come out - it is on Friday evening at the Pines Golf course. Mark and I went shopping yesterday and got tons of great deals at Belk in Prattville. They are having a moving sale - the whole store is marked down. I got a $150.00 dress for $46.00. I also found a new tennis outfit for $20.00 - normally $60.00. I have new tennis shoes too and will be getting a new racket by next week - so watch out Hannah and Aunt Cathy - I am coming to get you! :) I hate to even mention back to school, but here I go. We are really looking forward to our "Back to School" party at the Lake cabin the weekend before school starts with close friends and family. I am sure I will have tons of pictures to post after the party. I have changed all my pictures to private on the flickr site. I should have emailed all of my close friends and family the password, but if you did not get it and want to look at the pictures. Call me or shoot me an email and I will give you the password. I hope you all are enjoying your summer - it just flys by!!

Byne's New School

We have decided on a new school for Byne! After many weeks of discussions, prayer, and research we have decided that Byne will attend Central Alabama Community College next school year. I know - you are asking - What,isn't he already a Junior? He still has three years of athletic eligibility left. They have a three year academic program at CACC, so he can focus on a minor this school year and then transfer to finish his major next year and still have two years left to play. Our prayer is that he has a great baseball season and is picked up by a D1 or D2 school to finish his last two years of school. Byne is thrilled because he already has friends who attend CACC. Mom and Dad are pretty happy too, because it is super close to the lake cabin. We will have a free place to stay on baseball weekends! :) This college baseball road has been a bit of a bumpy ride for Byne, but we know that God has the plan all mapped out! We look forward to seeing what God has in store for him :)

North Carolina Trip to see Byne!

We left on Thursday to travel to North Carolina to go visit Byne. He is up there playing baseball for the Catawba Valley Stars. He left on May 22nd, but it seems like he has been gone for months. We stopped in Auburn to pick up Byne's girlfriend, Cayla. Then we were off with the plan of driving above Atlanta then sleeping before going all the way to NC. I am a planner (that is an understatement)! I usually plan every minute of our trips, book hotels, print google directions - a regular Mrs. Organization. This trip Mark did not want to book any hotels. He begrudgingly let me print directions, but he wanted to just fly by the seat of our pants and find places to sleep! This worried me, but I obliged. I told him that it would be cheaper to plan ahead, but he ended up being right (I hate when that happens)! We stopped the first night at the Best Western. The girls and I were unsure - the bed linens seemed a little stiff and "crusty" but the room was clean. We made fun of Mark endlessly for his choice of hotels, but he was a great sport.

We woke up on Friday morning headed to NC. In the slide show you can see where we stopped at the rest areas in SC and in NC to document our trip. The girls climbed a wall in SC to get a picture with the flag, that was too funny. Lakyn had no fear and Cayla was scared half to death, but she did it! We arrived in Monroe, NC for the first game right before the start of the game. Byne played first base and did a great job! You could tell he was so happy to see us, and we were thrilled to finally lay eyes on him! After the double header, we headed the 1 and 1/2 hours to Hickory (where Byne lives). Mark let us pick the hotel this time since we teased him such about the Best Western. We picked one with soft linens (a Marriot)! We were finally settled in to our spot for the weekend. More ballgames, shopping, dinner, swimming,and two days later we left for Athens, GA to watch our final ballgame. Aunt Cathy, Uncle Tom, and Hannah met us at the ball field to watch him play. It was a great day at the ball park. The weather was fantastic! We had the best time visiting and Byne did GREAT! We left from Athens for Macon on Sunday evening. We spent the night with Aunt Cathy in Macon. We stayed up late talking and then woke up Monday to more eating and shopping. We returned home Monday! We had the greatest trip! We spent a whole lot of time in the car, but everyone was so glad to see Byne and we had fun together. The slide show is a picture walk of our trip - ENJOY! Byne didn't even whine about taking too many pictures, I think he was just so glad that we were there! We are now rewashing and packing for our annual Fourth of July trip to the Lake. I hope you all have a fabulous Fourth of July!

Peace and Quiet - Good or Bad?

Lakyn insisted that we take this picture the other night. She had gotten ready earlier in the day for us to go and buy her Dad a Father's Day present, and I had just gotten home from playing tennis. As a result, she looked beautiful and I looked sweaty. I love the picture anyway - we look so happy. I wonder when the "teenager" stage is going to hit and we don't "like" each other anymore. I am terrified that it will happen any day!!! I am praying that Lakyn and I will be an exception to the rule and continue to love to be around one another!

All of the children are gone this week. Lakyn went to visit her Dad, Dalton went to the beach with a friend, Byne is in North Carolina, and Kyle is at his Mom's house this week. The house is sooooo quiet. I am trying to enjoy the quiet, but it is kinda sad. I am accustomed to a house full of hustle and bustle. We are always getting ready to go somewhere or coming home from somewhere, or having friends over! I looked at Mark last night and said, "It's just you and me babe!" He just laughed, you know Mark loves the peace and quiet. I was having trouble deciding whether or not peace and quiet was for me, when the phone rang. The first ring was Byne for the fourth time today just checking in and making sure I remember to bring his baseball pants to NC this weekend. Then I settled back in, and the phone rang again. This time it was Dalton from the beach asking if it was OK for him to get a tattoo. I promptly replied, "Have you lost your mind?" That question is characteristic of my Dalton(a little on the wild side), but he will have to wait until 18 or older!!!!!! Then I settled back in and the phone rang again, this time it was Lakyn checking on Harmony and calling to say good night. After all the phone calls, I decided - maybe I will enjoy my few days of peace and quiet. Moms deserve a day off now and again, and I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.

My Dad retired after 42 years from Aldridge Borden and Company. He has a Lake Cabin on Lake Martin and loves to spend time there. I bought him this pedal boat as a retirement gift. He seems to be enjoying it and Aarron really loved it. We all had a great time at the Lake this weekend trying it out!

Father's Day

WOW! A weekend to be thankful! I can not put into words how very important my Dad is to me! I found a quote the other day that made me think about my Dad,

"He didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it." ~Clarence Budington Kelland

That is so true! He lives everyday by the Word. You will not hear him spout bible verses, or TELL you the good things he does for others. He just leads by example. He does for others, including me, and never expects any praise or anything in return. I am so thankful to have two God fearing parents who have always loved me unconditionally. The older I get the more thankful I am to have this special relationship with my parents. They have been married 44 years and have been such an example of what a Christian marriage looks like! Our 5th Anniversary is Saturday! Mark has to work 3-11 shift, so we will be having a daytime celebration. I can't believe it has already been five years. It sometimes seems like just yesterday that we met (except when he is on midnights, then it feels like we have been married for 25 years LOL). I know you can relate Nancy :) I am very thankful that God sent me this incredible man to be my partner! I am a lucky girl, INDEED! Happy Anniversary Mark!

My Aunt Annie Pearl passed away yesterday. My grandmother and Aunt Annie Pearl were very close and she was always at our family functions. She has taken good care of my Grandad since
Grandma' s death six years ago. The funeral is tomorrow and our family will miss her dearly - especially my Grandad. I know she is in heaven right now getting to see my Grandma again. They were the two youngest girls of five and I know they are glad to see one another. We have a Mother's Day celebration every year at my Uncle's lake cabin. This year I took this photo, not realizing at the time how important it would be to me. Thank you Aunt Annie Pearl for all the special memories :)

We went to the lake for the weekend. It was great weather and we all had a great time. We only had one minor mishap. We went over to a friends house across the lake and then when it was time to leave - the boat would not crank. I am so glad that Mark came with us because he saved the day. It was an easy fix, just a dead battery! We got a new battery from the marina and we were good to go! It was Allie's first trip to the lake. She kept asking us if there was salt in the water, or if the lake had jelly fish. We tried to explain the difference between saltwater and freshwater. I think she understood by the end of the day! My first vacation of the summer is over. I made good use of my vacation time. I hit the beach twice and the lake. Back to work tomorrow!

We had the greatest time at Cheer Camp! I think Cheer Camp at the beach is the best idea that the coach has ever had. This group of girls were so sweet and worked so hard! I got home from my friends beach trip to turn around and leave the next day with Lakyn for Cheer camp. Eighteen little girls (12 and 13) headed for the beach where they get to cheer and play on the beach for four days. To say the least, they were very excited. Do you ever wish you could go back to those teenager days - where you can be silly constantly? I got to do that today! We sang Hannah Montana songs all the way to the beach (and the Apple Bottom jeans song - sorry other cheer moms! LOL) I had the best time with these precious little girls. I was blasted back into reality that I was the grown up with them when the Moms had to go do the grocery shopping for 18 girls! WOW - that is a whole lot of food. We are having the best time and I am getting lots of great pictures that I will share by the end of the week! Go Mustangs! :)

We have taken a Girl's Beach trip every year for the past seven summers. Our Bunco group is usually who goes with us, but the group does change slightly every year. A bunch of teachers who are super excited about school letting out is a sure recipe for fun! We always have the BEST time together! Thanks for the constant laughing ladies. I definitely needed the time away just for me to spend times with friends (no husbands, no children, no worries LOL), and I enjoyed every minute of it :)!

The end of another school year! This one is special because Kyle graduated. He is headed to the Univeristy of Alabama and his Dad and I are so proud of him. We know that he will do great! Lakyn was honored at her school for "A/B" Honor Roll. Mark and I continue to be proud of her hard work at school! Dalton loved PCA this year - he received a baseball letter award, but I forgot my camera (can you believe it)! Byne did great at Troy, but we are looking for a new school for him to play ball at. I know we will find just the right place for him (God has a plan!). He is headed to Hickory, North Carolina to play ball for the summer! It was a great year at Coosada! I continue to LOVE my job - somedays I can not believe I get paid for what I do. We are looking forward to a fun filled summer!

Mother's Day 2008

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day! I am so thankful to have a wonderful mother who has always been there for me, even when I screwed up. She always put us first and I can see what all she sacrificed now that I am older. My sweet mother in law is so special to our family. She supports all her grandchildren and I know she would do anything in the world for us! We are truly blessed. Thank you to my sweet children who made me feel special today. Lakyn set an alarm to wake up before me so she could hang a banner that she made and to cook me breakfast. She is such a thoughtful child! Dalton is so funny - he said the fact that he got a job is my Mother's Day present (he has a point, because it is going to save me hundreds of dollars in gas money!) Byne bought me a gift card to eat at my favorite restaraunt. It was great to spend all day with them - what a joy! Children can at times be a handful and heaven knows they run me crazy most of the time, but they are worth every crazy minute. I am counting my blessings today! Happy Mother's Day to all :)

Kyle's Graduating!

Kyle was recognized at the church Sunday for graduation! We are so proud of him. He has been working at CES as a cadet teacher. All of the teachers have just raved about what a great job he has done with the children. You can tell the children really love Kyle and enjoy him being in their class. It has been neat to be able to talk with him about his students and see the joy he gets from working with them. I am thankful for this extra time we have gotten to spend together before he goes off to the University of Alabama. A senior banquet is being held tomorrow night at the church and should be lots of fun. We gathered pictures last weekend for the slide show. I can not believe how much he has grown since he and I first met back in the fourth grade. It seems like his Dad and I just married yesterday. "They grow up fast" is such a cliche, but it is so true. I am afraid to blink, because every time I do it seems the children are another year older! I just in recent years have realized how fast time flies. I plan to enjoy every second of this weekend spending Mother's Day with my sweet children! We are going with my Mom to see Grandad on Sunday and then to Maw Maw's house for a Mother's Day feast! I hope you all have special plans for Mother's Day - enjoy your day!

We had a great night out with friends Friday. Our favorite band, Dr. Feelgood, was at Down the Street Cafe. We went out there for a little dancing :) Mark was on vacation for almost two weeks. It was so nice to have "off work" Mark at home. He is so relaxed when he isn't having to work at the mill. Lakyn and I left Saturday morning for a serious shopping trip with Aunt Cathy and Hannah. We bought tons of new cute summer clothes! It was a great time for all. The Bon Jovi concert is this week - Wednesday night!! We are so excited! Mark and I are going with our friends Jason and Emilie. This weekend is long weekend for Mark - so we are headed to the lake to soak up the sun! You should see lots of new pictures next week - I might even share one of Jon Bon Jovi!

The crazy computer will not let me upload any photos to blogger, so you will have to go to the flickr site to see pictures. I haven't update the blog this week so I am playing catch up! We have been super busy! Baseball season is fun, but exhausting. We are never home and my house is dirty enough to prove it! Would anyone like to come clean my house while I am at a baseball game? Didn't think so, what kind of friends are you :) Here is our week in review! I have new pictures of sweet Camryn! She came to Byne's baseball game last weekend with her Mom and Dad! She had a great time, but did not last the whole game (needed a necessary nap for Michele's sake). I remember those days!

New pictures of Dalton catching for PCA! He is still playing 2nd base, but will be catching some depending on who is pitching. He is still loving PCA and baseball!

Lakyn returned from her cruise golden brown and looking four years older! They had a great time - we have a video of her swimming with the Dolphins which is really neat. Hannah and Lakyn have the neatest relationship! They are so much like sisters without any fighting. I am so thankful that Lakyn has her in her life - she is such a fantastic influence! Hannah came to our house after the cruise to visit. I think we bored her to tears with all our baseball and it rained so we couldn't go play tennis, but it was great to get to spend some time with her!

Lakyn's best friends Brittney and Troy turned 13 this month. They had a party and all the kids had a great time. I have lots of pictures from the party. I can not believe they are already 13 - time is flying by!

I am headed back to Troy, Alabama for ANOTHER baseball game! Have a great week everyone :)

Cheerleading tryouts were Friday! Lakyn and her friends worked so hard this week getting ready and they all did a great job! Lakyn had to leave right after tryouts to go on a cruise with Aunt Cathy, Hannah, and Uncle Tom. She did not have time to wait around to check the list, but I called her as soon as I saw the list. She was soooo excited that she made it and that all her friends made it to. She is now celebrating in Cancun - LUCKY GIRL! I am very proud of all her hard work! GOOD JOB GIRLS!

We had a great Easter! We went to church with MawMaw and then home for a GREAT lunch cooked by my sweet husband. Kyle, Lakyn and I went to play tennis while Mark, Byne and Dalton went to practice baseball. It was a great day to play outside. We were so excited to have all four children home for this Easter. That is the first time they have all been home at the same time in a long while. It was a GREAT day! :)

Troy vs Auburn Game

Troy played Auburn on Tuesday evening. It was a great game, but not the desired outcome. Troy lost 6 to 4. We will play Auburn again in Auburn on April 29th. Hopefully we will beat them next time! Byne had a great cheering section for this game (MawMaw, Mema, Pops, Aunt Kay, Uncle Jerry, the Hughes, the Johnsons, Cayla, Lakyn, me and Mark), but he did not get to play. Lakyn is so funny - she does not attend the games to watch baseball, but she really was ready to see Byne. She asked all throughout the game, "We will go eat with Byne after the game, won't we!" She was excited to get to spend some time with him. Distance makes the heart grow fonder, even between brothers and sisters. Byne has another game this evening, so back to Troy!

Dalton's 16th Birthday!

Dalton turned 16 on March 11th. I took a personal day off of work so we could spend the whole day together and go get his license. We arrived at the Prattville DMV at 8:00 only to find out that we were number 6 on the list. Guess what? They only take 5! We then hurried to Montgomery, because Mom was on a mission. We went in and got our number (17) and sat for about 45 minutes. They then announced that it was raining and no more road tests for the day! Dalton and I were both disappointed, but nothing breakfast from Chappy's Deli could not fix :)! We went to see Mema and then I took Dalton to school for baseball practice after asking his Dad to take him for the test again the next morning. Mom could not take any more time off of work! He passed the test this morning and was so excited! He drove to church tonight and made it home safe and sound. As his Mom, I am excited for him, but at the same time very nervous. Letting go is hard to do! Happy Sweet sixteen my sweet, sweet baby boy. Momma loves you!!

Camryn and Michele came to Dalton's game in Luverne on Monday! It was so good to see them again. Camryn is getting so big and Michele is 4 months pregnant. Camryn kept saying, "I am watching Dalton hit the ball, and catch the ball, and throw the ball - where is Lakyn!" She just talks, talks, talks and is sooo cute! She loves that Dalton and was very sad that Lakyn did not come to see her!

We went to the Troy/Bama game at the Biscuit's stadium on Tuesday evening. Aunt Kay braved the cold weather most of the game, but here she is enjoying the warmth of the box. My Dad has a box through his work and they let us use it for the game. It was so nice! The WHOLE family came and several friends. Emilie and Jason came, JP came with Dalton and of course Cayla was there! We were even graced with Allison's presence (Kyle's girlfriend). Byne did not play, but the Trojans did win :)! It was a good time had by all! Thanks for getting us the box Dad - I still owe you that money - I have not forgotten! Ha Ha! Love you!

We are having the greatest time at work this week. It is Read Across America and we always have tons of fun activities to encourage the children to read. Kyle dressed up like The Cat in the Hat for us and he did a fantastic job! The children are so impressed with him and he seems to really enjoy coming to the school everday - and I especially enjoy that I get to see him everyday!

Baseball Season has Started!

I love every minute of baseball season, but it is exhausting. Byne is playing for Troy again this year and Dalton is playing at PCA. We have games constantly and I do not like to miss a game! Mark and I are on different sides of the state trying to cover both of the boys games. I am constantly calling him to see how Byne's team is doing and he is calling me to see how Dalton's team is doing. We will be able to go together tomorrow to Byne's game in Dothan. Byne is playing first base and will be hitting this year - and we hope he will play tomorrow. We are looking forward to the Troy v/s Alabama game at the Biscuits stadium on Tuesday evening.

Dalton is playing second base for PCA and is having a great time. I have become the unofficial photographer for PCA - I have already taken 119 pictures in only 4 games. PCA is 3-1 so far this season - they have done real well! I will not be able to blog as much, because I will be spending my life at some ball park somewhere - but I will try to keep you all updated. Although I complain about being exhausted from all the games, I would not change a thing (except that I would like to be able to be in two places at once). I love watching my boys play a game that they love! What a fantastic way to enjoy Spring!

It is amazing the difference a dress can make. Just this morning when Lakyn and I were laying on the couch together, she had on her toes socks and polka dotted pajamas and she was still my baby. When we finished getting her ready for this dance less than 8 hours later, she looks all grown up! It is such a strange feeling because I enjoy the fact that she is more mature and I love our talks, but I still want her to be my baby. I thank God everyday for blessing me with this amazing "little" girl. She is such a joy and I am learning to not worry about her growing up, but to enjoy her growing up.

Troy Season Opener 2008

Troy's season opener was Friday night. We won our first game 9 to 2 against Rhode Island. We have a double header today and one more game on Sunday. Dalton and his girlfriend, Shelby, went with Mark and I to the game. Kyle was sick and Lakyn thought she might melt in the rain so they stayed home. We are headed back today - Lakyn is going with me today. Byne did not play, but his friend AJ pitched and I have great pictures of him pitching on my flickr site. Check them out! I have the video of them calling out Byne's name for the first time. I am posting it in this blog because I tried to hollar when they called his name and it was very weak. It is too funny - check it out!

Kyle Turns 18

Kyle turned 18 today! He has been working with a Kindergarten class from CES and the children absolutely LOVE him! They threw him a surprise party today and they had a great time. I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day. The day at school was lots of fun. Parties went on throughout the afternoon and I received bags full of sweet valentines and cookies, candy, chocolate (the children are always so sweet)! That evening I went to the movies with the kids. We saw "Definitley, maybe"! It is an excellent movie! Mark and I celebrated last weekend because of his work schedule.

We went to Troy again this weekend to watch Byne play baseball. Mark had to work midnight shift, so Emilie went with me. We met Cayla and her friend Emily from Auburn in Montgomery so we could all ride together. We had the best time with the girls. They are so much fun! We stopped by Sikes and Kohns for some shoe shopping and on to 5 hours of baseball! They played 12 innings. Byne had a great day! I bought a candy neckalace at the gas station and they insisted that I wear it for this photo. I laughed and laughed all day long - thank you girls for a fantastic day. After the game we had a great "Valentine's meal" at The Pines Restaraunt in downtown Troy. The food was great! It was a great Valentine's week. Thank you today Cayla and Emilie for all of the fun and laughs. Thank you to my sweet family for making me feel so loved. Happy Valentine's week!

We went to Troy on Sunday because the Trojans were playing an Intersquad game. They have redone the entire field and it is looking great. They have added locker rooms and offices above the home dugout. They have added astroturf on the entire field. They also added new covered batting cages and a new outfield wall. Byne says they are adding a jumbotron to the outfield, but that has not been done yet. I added pictures of the upgrades to my flickr site. It already looks great - I can not wait to the see the finished product at the season opener! Byne did great today and we were able to spend some extra time with him after the game. A great baseball day - 70 degrees outside and beautiful.

Bal Masque' 2008

Every year Mark and I are invited to Bal Masque'. My sister-in-law is a member and she always sends us an invitation. It is very unique in that the members of the group perform for the guests. Our friends Teresa, Pam and Glenda are also members. A Queen is elected from the group members every year and she determines what the theme, music, and costumes will be for the following year at the Ball. They spend the entire year preparing for the event and the members begin dance practice and making costumes months before. This year's theme was Rhinestone Cowgirls. The western theme was too cute (Mark was upset they didn't notify him ahead of time so he could wear his Wranglers). There are several members in the group, so there are about eight dance groups. You can check out the pictures of our friends dancing on the flickr site. They all did a great job and the evening was just perfect. The food at Bonefish Grill was incredible - that was my first time there. I loved it - I will be returning! The company was fantastic and it helps that my husband looks very hot in a tuxedo. The band was excellent. We had a great time and will look forward to next year. Thanks for the invitation Dell! Love you!

Byne's Award

Byne was recognized at the Troy Basketball game on Thursday night. All of the Varsity athletes with a 3.0 or higher grade point average were given certificates at half time. His Dad and I are so proud of him!! Mark had to work, so he was not able to come - but my friend Emilie went with me so I would not have to drive by myself. What a great friend!!

Byne is such an absolute joy! He cooked us steak, turnip greens, field peas, sauteed mushrooms, and made a salad for dinner before the game. He had even bought me a Diet Coke, because he knows it is my favorite. He is so thoughtful! OK, so I am bragging - but isn't that what parents are for. Keep up the hard work Byne! You are much loved and appreciated!

Cayla's Birthday

Cayla's Birthday was this week. Emilie made her a Barbie cake for her big day. We got together this weekend to celebrate. We had big plans for Saturday night to go see a movie, but the snow changed our plans just a bit. We enjoyed cake and then played Rock Band! It was great fun and then we were able to go see the movie on Sunday. We went to see 27 Dresses. It was a great feel good movie. I definitely recommend it to anyone that enjoys a romantic comedy.

Snow Day

Snow in Alabama! Dalton and Lakyn were at their Dad's house on Saturday when it snowed. It was sad to not have them at home to play with me. Byne was home for the weekend, but he was not up for playing in the snow. I took Harmony outside to play, but she did not like the snow at all. Although I did not play outside I still really enjoyed the day! Byne and I lazed around on the couch all day long watching movies. Mark was on midnight shift, so he slept most of the day - but he would get up every once and a while and check out the progress. It was a relaxing day knowing that we did not have to go anywhere!

1. Colorado again - The kids and I went with my Aunt Cathy and it is the most beautiful place I have ever visited. It was a perfect trip. We went snowmobiling, on a sleigh ride through the woods, skiing, and snow tubing! I am trying to talk Mark into a trip real soon!
2. I would love to visit Australia - Mark and I talk about moving there when the children are grown. He talks about renting waverunners and umbrellas on the beach and I can waitress at a local restaraunt. I then burst his bubble by telling him that we can't move away - we have to be here to spend time with our grandchildren (one day :). It is fun to talk about though!
3. I would love to go back to Europe and this time spend more time in Switzerland. It was by far the most beautiful of all the places we visited while we were there. I would also like to see England while I am there.
4. Las Vegas - only because Mark really wants to go there. I really have no desire to go, but he really wants to - so I would like to go with him. I do not like to gamble AT ALL, although I played BINGO on our cruise and won $600.00! Is BINGO really gambling though?
5. Hawaii - just once to see what I think!

Mark's Birthday Cake

I would not describe myself as domestic AT ALL. I do not like to decorate, clean, cook or anything remotely related. The good thing about Mark is that he doesn't mind that about me. We had an agreement when we married that he would be the family cook and I would clean the kitchen. That agreement still holds true today! It works out great because he loves to cook and as long as I do not have to even think about what we are having for dinner - I don't mind cleaning the kitchen. The ironic part about all of this is that every year on his birthday I feel compelled to do something domestic. Last year I cooked him a huge meal on his birthday (it was great by the way - I didn't say I could not cook, just that I don't like to cook)!

This year two friends of mine took a cake decorating class. They invited me to come along for classes, but again, since cooking is one of my least favorite activities I declined. I do, however, run errands with my friends on occasion and I noticed a John Deere tractor cake pan one day when we were in Michael's. This pan, of course, screamed Mark. I decided to ask for a little assistance from my professionally trained friend, Emilie, and we were on a mission to make a Birthday Cake. It is a lengthy process, but it was lots of fun. I felt a sense of accomplishment when I was done. I gave it to Mark today and he loved it. We ate some and it tasted pretty good too! I have completed my domestic task for the year!

Jenna's Birthday Scavenger Hunt

Our good friend Jenna turned 14 years old today. Lakyn and Jenna have been going to school together since they were three and Jenna's mother, Jan, and I have been close friends since then. We began to talk last week about what we could do for Jenna's birthday this year. We settled on a photo scavenger hunt. We divided the girls into two teams (they had to chose an M & M and the ones with like colors were on the same team). Each team was given a list of 25 items to complete and each item had a point value. They had exactly two hours to get as many items done as they possibly could. These items included a photo at the Welcome to Millbrook sign, photo with a Yield sign, photo pumping a strangers gas, photo walking someones dog, photo in front of a fountain, photo with a community helper, photo with a Winn Dixie employee, photo with a yellow car, photo with a pork loin, photo in front of an accurate clock, photo with a 1994 coin, photo with all team members on a swing, photo with someone taller than 6'3", photo at a phone booth, photo with all team members dressed in the same clothing, photo with a car battery, photo with an Alabama CD, photo taking a stranger's groceries out, photo with one team member wrapped in toilet paper in a public restroom (we brought our own toilet paper), photo with the word fun on something in a store, photo with a historical marker, photo building a pyramid in front of Stanhope Elmore High School......and a couple of others that I can not remember. The rules were you only had two hours - every minute you were late would deduct 5 points from your teams total. The driver was not allowed to help at all unless the team wanted to use a life line. They could ask the driver two questions and phone 1 friend - three life lines total. This was very difficult for me, because I was dying to help. Lakyn had no idea who "Alabama" was - the country group. Luckily one other little girl in our group was more familiar with country music. I was surprised at some things that they did know. They knew roughly where some historical markers were and they knew exactly where the Welcome to Millbrook sign was. It was so much fun listening to them devise their strategic plan and decide where they were going to go next. The groups tied - both groups were able to obtain all the photos and were back at the house by 9:30 PM. I had the best time watching them play this game tonight! What was your year like?

An unexpected blessing/smartest thing I have done- We moved Dalton to PCA this school year after much consideration and prayer. It was very hard for me to move my child to a private school (especially in my current position), but I had to do what was best for Dalton. I was not so sure about the move but it has been a blessing for our family. He is so much happier in this school and has done better academically. It has been well worth it to see him happy!

Feeling important- I do not necessarily feel important, but I do feel responsible. The school adding 2nd grade has increased my responsibility. I have realized that being the Principal of the school definitely does not make you any more important than anyone else, it just means you are more responsible than anyone else. A scary realization.

Craziest thing I did- I took my mother to the Rod Stewart concert. If you knew her at all, you would understand why that seemed like a crazy idea. We had a great time!

Sentimental moment-My baby started Jr. High School this year. It is so hard to watch her grow up - I want to freeze her in time, but I have enjoyed watching her become her own little person. I am very proud of her!

Most enjoyable gift-Mark and Lakyn bought me the softest robe on the planet for Christmas. I have worn it daily since Christmas morning - I think it may be the best gift I have ever received. I am sad that I am going to have to go back to work - I don't think they will let me wear my robe there!

Craziest purchase turnabout- Mark and I wanted to buy a nice camera so that we could take better pictures of the kids while cheering and playing baseball. Our other camera would not take good pictures from a distance. When we spent the large sum of money we spent on our camera, I did not realize what a great purchase we had made. That camera goes with me just about everywhere. I have a new found hobby. I am getting on the children's nerves, but they will thank me one day.

Moments of maturity- Realizing that it is impossible to make everyone happy and ridiculous to try.

Huge answers to prayer- Dalton loving his new school, Kyle finding his way for next year (he is a senior), Lakyn and Mom surviving and loving her first semester of Jr. High, Byne continuing to find success at Troy. Mark and I are still healthy and happy enjoying life! God has been very good to the Goodins! We are continuing to pray for my Aunt Joan. She is currently receiving cancer treatments- please include her in your prayers. Thanks!

Happy New Year

We have a New Year's Eve party at our house every year. There is no better way to ring in the New Year. Lakyn and Dalton invited several of their friends this year and they had a great time. We watched the Auburn game and then stayed up very late playing Rock Band. Lakyn had to be taken to the church at 3:00 AM to leave for West Virginia on her ski trip - so we just stayed up until it was time to take her. She was so excited about her trip - but Mom was a little worried about sending her so far away without me. I have already talked to her three times today. She is having a great time! New Year's Day has been a very lazy day. I have spent the entire day in my pajamas - a great way to spend the first day of any year. Happy New Year!

Wendy's Wedding

Wendy's wedding was absolutely gorgeous! I am so happy for her. The groom did not even look nervous, he just looked really really happy. The reception was held at a beautiful home out Pike Road. The food was incredible! It was so good to see some of my friends that I have not seen in a while. Congratulations Wendy!

Bunco Girls Night Out

GIRLS NIGHT OUT

We had girls night out on Friday. We wish more of our BUNCO group was able to come. We missed them!!! We ate dinner at Logans and then went to Down the Street Cafe to listen to a band. Byne's Uncle plays in a band - so we went to listen to them ( that is how Byne and Brandon wormed their way into Girls Night Out). The food at Logans was great. The band was awesome. We had a great time!!

We went ice skating today with Emilie and Jan. I did not realize how good Dalton was at ice skating! He helped Allie the whole time we were there. He was a lifesaver because the rest of us had to hug the wall!! Mark would not even put ice skates on (scaredy cat)!

Dalton has been volunteering at the YMCA the past couple of weeks. I am so proud of him - he seems to have a talent and love for working with children. It is somewhat unexpected, because patience has never been one of his strengths. I believe God gifts some people the talent of working with children. It looks like he may have been given that special gift! I am just so proud that he is taking time out for others!

I love Christmas time! My favorite part is when the whole family gets together to eat. The food is so good and we always have such a great time. This year we got together with Maw Maw and family on Christmas Eve and with my family on the Sunday before Christmas. We are excited that Mark is off work until Thursday. We will get to spend tons of time together!! We have a family tradition of going to the movies on Christmas Day. We take turns picking which movie to go see - this year it is Mark's turn. That probably means an action movie - I can handle it - marriage is give and take! We are watching a girly movie tonight (Christmas Eve)! Merry Christmas to all of our friends and family. We love and appreciate you!! We are blessed beyond measure!

Kitten Battle

We have been fighting with Harmony since Thanksgiving because she loves to climb our Christmas tree. She has already broken several ornaments. I am surprised our entire tree has not fallen over. We have tried every thing to keep her out of the tree - and nothing seems to work. Look how high she got in the picture. Mark and Lakyn are constantly pulling her out of the tree. They both love Harmony, and I love Mark and Lakyn - That is the only reason she is still in the house! Wish me luck making it until Christmas day!

Lakyn and I had great fun making our gingerbread house. The kit was at Walmart. We, of course, had to also buy additional candy. We didn't use half of what we bought. She had the most fun workiing on this house. We literally spent over an hour decorating it. I am dying to eat a piece, just to see what it tastes like - but she refuses to let me. I bet Byne, Mark and Dalton tear into it soon when she is not watching. They are sneaky like that. You can not leave food sitting around our house too long!!!

We had a gathering for the Alabama/Auburn game last night. Most of us were Alabama fans (exception Emilie and Cayla), so we were not too excited about the outcome. The game was boring - very little action. The action came after the game at our house. Byne placed a bet with his friend Brandon that if Auburn lost Brandon would have to shave his legs. If Alabama lost Byne would have to shave his legs. Alabama lost and Byne is a man of his word. We all gathered on the back porth for the shaving. It made for an interesting evening. Our team may not of won, but we had lots of fun and ate some great food. This has been a great week. We enjoyed having Byne home and spending time with family. I also got most of my Christmas shopping finished. I just have a few items left to buy. Dalton and Lakyn come home from their Dad's house today. I have missed them and will be very glad when they get home. This week I have been constantly reminded of what all I have to be thankful for. God has been good to the Goodins!

We went to Mom's house for Thanksgiving this evening. We FINALLY had the whole family in one place at one time so I forced them to take a family picture. It was difficult to get Dalton to cooperate (as usual), but it still turned out pretty good. The food was great - mom is a great cook. We are going to visit my grandad tomorrow and then off to Birmingham for some serious shopping with Aunt Cathy. Happy Thanksgiving!

We had Thanksgiving with the Goodins at our house on Sunday. We had a great crowd. The whole family was here except Dalton, he went to visit Hannah, and Krissy, she had to fly out of state to visit her family. We missed them! Jerry and Mark cooked the steaks and they were fantastic. We always eat good when we get together. I am so thankful to be a part of this fantastic family. I am thankful that we are able to spend time together and everyone is healthy. We will have the Saunders Thanksgiving on Wednesday. Aunt Cathy, Uncle Tom, and Hannah are coming. I am looking forward to spending time with them. I love Thanksgiving - it always reminds me to reflect on all that I have to be thankful for!

Emilie's Birthday

We had a party at the house this weekend for Emilie's birthday. She is 28 years old - still a baby. Jan made a cake - check it out in the pics-very impressive. We had a great time! We also went to watch Byne play ball this weekend. They play a "Word Series" game every year where the Troy team is divided into two teams and they play one another. Byne's team won and they were very excited. He played first on Friday evening and pitched on Saturday to one batter. They put him in the game in the top of the 9th inning. He pitched to one batter and got him out. We are out on Monday for Veteran's Day. I am so excited - I need the rest after traveling back and forth to Troy every weekend for the past month watching Byne. I love to watch him play, but that drive to Troy Friday and then again on Sat. and then again on Sun. can get exhausting. I am looking forward to a day of laying around my house! We were so proud that Byne came home on Sunday - he was able to stay for Ms. Emilie's birthday party. It was a great time had by all!

Halloween

We have a Costume Parade every year that is lots of fun at Coosada. This year the office staff had the theme of Wizard of Oz. It was a great day and the children seemed to have lots of fun. I also got arrested for the Muscular Dystrophy Association today - I raised $1060.00! We had a Halloween party for Lakyn's friends tonight and they had a great time. Mark cooked Beef Stew for the whole crew - it was yummy. It was a fabulous Halloween. Check out the pics of Halloween and the Costume Parade on my flickr account.

Byne's games

Mark and I went to Troy twice this weekend to watch Byne play ball. He pitched on Friday evening and played first and was the designated hitter the rest of the weekend. He had a pretty good weekend - he hit two homeruns yesterday. We always have a great time when we go watch him play. I am looking forward to a BUSY week at school (Halloween week!) and another weekend of baseball next weekend.

Field Trip with Allie

My children are getting too old for field trips so I was so excited when Jan asked me to go on Allie's field trip with her. Jan and Chris both had to work and it was Allie's first field trip. It was easy for me to go, since I already work at the school. A perk of the job! We went to the pumpkin patch at the YMCA. Allie came to my house this morning EARLY, and the field trip is ALL she could talk about. She was so excited. I had forgotten how excited children get about field trips. You could tell she could not wait until it was time to load the bus. We had a great time together, and it was fun getting to know all my new kindergarten students. I was exhausted when I got home, but so glad that I was able to go. Thank you Jan and Chris for sharing sweet Allie with me today - we had a blast! Check out the pics in flickr.

Troy Homecoming 2007

We went to Troy for Homecoming. Byne grilled us a great lunch before the game - he gets his grilling skills from his Dad. We had a great time with Byne, Cayla, and Tiffany. We were really there to see the cheerleaders and they did a great job. They won the game by a large margin. Lakyn also enjoyed the Dippin Dots. It was a great day!

Lakyn's Lake Party

Lakyn invited several girls for a spend the night party at the lake. We had a great time! I invited a few of my friends too - can't leave mom out. We took over 300 pictures at the football games and the girls had a great time making their own tagbooks (smaller version of scrapbooks). We ate banana splits and watched movies. The girls ate and ate and ate - I am used to boys eating a lot, but some of these girls put Byne and Kyle to shame! It was a party we will not soon forget. Thanks for coming girls - we enjoyed you! :)

We had a birthday celebration for Byne (20), Lakyn (13), and Uncle Stephen (38) this month! We had a great time! The whole family was here (Mark's and mine). My grandad came from Wing, AL and my Aunt Cathy's family came from Macon for the party.

Family Vacation

We just got back from Cape San Blas visiting Aunt Cathy's new beach house. The beach house was beautiful, the weather was great, and the company was fantastic. I was so grateful to be able to spend time with almost the whole family. We missed Byne, Micah, and Aarron! We had the greatest time - check out the great pictures on the link at the top of this page. We took pictures as a family on Saturday evening and they turned out great. Kyle and Dalton had a great time skim boarding and looking for wildlife. Lakyn and Hannah had a great time just hanging out together as usual. The four children played football in the ocean on Sunday - it ended in a tie when a valuable player was wounded (Lakyn!). I did not want to come home, but we have to work to pay for more wonderful vacations. Thank you Aunt Cathy and Uncle Tom for the wonderful weekend! We LOVE YOU!
